About the Role

Clear forward opportunity for an experienced Air Quality Consultant to join a dedicated Environmental Consultancy at Senior or Principal grade and progress within a market-leading specialist team.

What’s in it for you?

  • Professional Growth: Collaborate with a senior team of experts who will provide one-to-one support, mentoring, and professional development. External training opportunities will also be available to enhance your skills.
  • Impactful Work: Play a crucial role in the development of proposals for new work and large, complex public and private sector tenders. Your expertise will contribute to stand-alone air quality assessments for new developments and the preparation of Environmental Statements, including those for Development Consent Order (DCO) applications.
  • Innovative Environment: Engage in leading-edge research projects and utilise your detailed practical experience of atmospheric dispersion modelling, particularly for transport and industry. Your understanding of ambient air quality monitoring methods for both particulate and gaseous species will be invaluable.
  • Leadership Opportunities: Train and mentor junior staff, supporting their professional development while taking on line management responsibilities. Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping the future of the team.

What we’re looking for:

  • Qualifications at a BSc level or higher in an appropriate science-based discipline and membership of relevant professional institutions, such as IAQM.
  • Significant experience in the technical management of large and complex air quality assessments.
  • Expertise in atmospheric dispersion modelling, especially for major transport and industrial infrastructure.
  • Comprehensive understanding of ambient air quality monitoring methods.
  • Proficiency in Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
  • Strong consultancy sector experience with a customer-focused approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Robust technical capability and ability to review and interpret data.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Even better if you also bring:

  • Experience in odour monitoring and modelling.
  • Knowledge of developing GHG inventories and assessing climate change impacts.
  • Familiarity with environmental permitting and regulator liaison.
  • Experience working with other environmental disciplines such as noise and biodiversity.
  • Recent experience in programming, machine learning, statistics, and optimisation.

Join a friendly, supportive environment where your skills and experience will be valued and developed. This is a pivotal moment for both the business and the field of environmental consultancy.
